Discussion about mapping in Australia is conducted on the mailing list. Please join the OSM Australian mailing list to join in the discussions. Coastline
- Coastline complete from Port Lincoln (SA) to North of Brisbane except for small area of Northern NSW.
- WA Coast complete from Margaret River to North of Geraldton.
- Other small areas done around mapped coastal towns and cities.
Islands
- Norfolk Island - Roads and Tracks ~99% All recently surveyed.
State Borders
- All straight borders added.
- NSW-Victoria border along Murray river completed.
- NSW-Qld ridge border not commenced.
- ACT border incomplete.
NSW
ACT/Canberra
Canberra locations:
Northern Territory
Darwin Some mapping being undertaken from Yahoo imagery.
Some street names added by OSMers on holidays.
Queensland
- Brisbane (map at Brisbane) - Working on the main roads and some areas of detail. About 3 active contributors as of October 2007, more welcome!
- Cairns - Mapping being undertaken using Yahoo imagery.Contributors in the area welcome!
- Dalby (town centre & Warrego Highway)
- Ipswich
- Rockhampton - Work has been started on mapping Rockhampton using track logs. More contributors are welcome!
- Toowoomba
- Whitsundays - Mapping by gpsdrive track logs. Will be extended to area from Sarina to Bowen.
- Gold Coast - Gold Coast, working outwards from Miami. Using Yahoo imagery and memory. Collaboration Welcome.
South Australia
- Most main arterial roads done.
- Main roads in inner city done.
- Good coverage in the inner western suburbs.
- Good coverage around Salisbury.
- Much of the eastern suburbs traced, still needs surveying and naming.
Rural Areas
- All A Roads surveyed or traced with basic tags.
- Work has begun on Some B Roads
- Most towns have Zero coverage
South Eastern
- Murray River completed from Landsat Imagery
- Some minor roads completed by a combination of survey and tracing.
Tasmania
Victoria
Victoria locations:
- Melbourne CBD - Started early 2007
- Melbourne - Started early 2007
Western Australia
Cameron Patrick and James Andrewartha have begun making some progress on Perth. We've done a fair chunk of the CBD and some inner suburbs. Help needed south of the river! I (Cameron) have also mapped parts of the Nullarbor (Great Eastern Highway) towards Adelaide.
