Summary

This tag describes which kind(s) of sport is/are exercised in/on some feature. Since this is a non-physical tag it should be combined with one of these (physical) tags:

Though most of these tags are rendered when used stand-alone, a combination with a physical tag is strongly encouraged to avoid misunderstandings. When there are several sports exercised in one location (eg. in a sports_centre) they can be separated by semicolons (;) like sport=soccer;football;rugby. Indoor sport locations should also be tagged as building=*.

Rendering

The colour of areas should be determined by the physical tags mentioned above. The sport-tag itself should only result in an appropriate icon. When there's no other (physical) tag some default color could be applied, though this wouldn't encourage proper mapping.
