A raw idea on the modelling of complex buildings.

Buildings can still be modelled as ways with building=yes (or a variation thereof). A fence around the building can also be modelled individually, as might entrance nodes.

However a relation can be used to group them all together and make it clear that this is the entrance of that building, and that fence belongs to it. (The fact that an entrance belongs to a certain building may be easy to guess in most cases but not e.g. for underground station entrances.)
