For designated footpaths, i.e. mainly/exclusively for pedestrians.

If bicycles are allowed as well differing to default Access-Restrictions, you can indicate this by adding a bicycle=yes tag.

Walking tracks and gravel paths which are not designated can be captured with highway=path + access=*-Tags.

How to map

To map a footway nothing else than a simple way is required. Add the highway=footway tag to it and a name=* if appropriate. You can combine this with some more access=* restriction tags.
