Summary

This could end up with a whole load of shop types as amenity=<something>. I think it would be better to have a separate category for shops. shop=bakery, butcher etc. Then shops can be rendered with a generic icon and the system doesn't have to know about every kind of shop.

Opinion

I'll vote against this, see why : [1] --Bartv 08:04, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I think the proposal of seperating this tag from the amenity stuff is a good idea. We'll have to think about a good name/structure for this. Maybe we'll have to tag shops in different levels. You might have a look at the already started structure at http://www.ostertag.name/gpsdrive/icons/index.html there you can see that we started with different subcategories for different shop types. I hope more icons will follow pretty soon. Tweety 12:44, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Vote

  • I disapprove this proposal. MikeCollinson 02:12, 20 December 2006 (UTC) (revised). Instead, I support a new shop=<shop category> tag. 1) It makes things easier than sorting through amenity= tags for shops. 2) It can be completely ignored by a renderer if shops are not of interest. 3) It makes an easy way of showing shop densities / retail areas in town by just marking nodes with a shop= tag without looking at the value.
  • I approve this tag. It seems consitent with other tags, and I see nothing against it. Like noraml, bartv, you free 'not' to use this tag. Ben. 18:33 18th December 2006 (UTC)
  • I disappove of this proposal, and would prefer to see a new tagging structure such as shop = bakery. Dmgroom 19:05, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Vote Ended

This appears to have been disapproved, but for the tag rather than the feature. Should it be excepted as approved as long as the tag is shop=baker? I agree it should be shop=baker, but was voting on the tagging of a baker on the asumption that in the creation of a shop tag it would be altered accordingly. Should this just be a complete dissaproval or a revote, or should this just be moved to the resolved area as a disapproval? Ben. 03:51 18th January 2007 (UTC)

I propose a re-vote as shop=bakery. This will also force the issue of introducing a shop= category. I will certainly vote for and am also already using such tags informally. MikeCollinson 04:37, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Vote 2

A revote for bakery to be tagged as Shop=bakery, (and Butcher to be shop=butcher?)
