Definition

From wikipedia :a dock is an 'enclosed' area of water used for loading, unloading, building or repairing ships. Such a dock may be created by building enclosing harbour walls into an existing natural water space, or by excavation within what would otherwise be dry land.

How to Map

Image:ElementArea.png
  1. Draw a closed area where all ways run clockwise or counter-clockwise. Add the waterway=dock to it. or
  2. Add a node at the centre of the building and add the waterway=dock tag.

You can also add the name=* tag to it, if the dock has a name.

Example

Barrow-in-Furness has two docks.
