From OpenStreetMap
I'm fairly new to OSM, started in November 2007. Crawley has been my main focus of attention, but have done work on Tokyo, railways and coastlines of Japan, Horsham and various areas of Greater London.
I use an iPAQ h2210 with Compact Flash Safecom GPS Ultra (rebadged Holux unit it seems). Noni GPS Plot is my software tool of choice for producing GPX files. I find a mobile phone suffices for photographing street names, so long as you can get a good shot of the GPS time on the display, or can sync the times accurately!
Recently switched from mainly using Potlatch to JOSM - not easy to get the hang of, and get the plug-ins configured, but once you do, soooo much quicker!
Would be interested to hear from anyone who can help with getting road names added in Crawley.
