Equipment
Currently using a Sony Clie N series PDA, with a Haicom H-203 GPS reciever. Both of these are no longer current models, and can be picked up relatively cheaply on Ebay.
The Haicom H-203 GPS receiver comes with an adapter cable which plugs in to the cigarette lighter socket, powers both the GPS reciever (which has no power source of its own) and the PDA, and does the data connection between PDA & GPS. I've made a homebrew cable to link some AA batterry cells, the PDA and the GPS, so that I can use the whole setup outside of the car.
Software
The Sony Clie runs the Palm OS. I use the freeware Cetus GPS software to record the GPS tracks, as I found it slightly more useable than the cotoGPS program.
North Star
Dmgroom is awarded the North Star for completing all the roads on the Isle of Wight.
