I am a freelance programmer living in Kensworth, Bedfordshire, near Dunstable. I got interested in OpenStreetMap as a way of getting sample data for my map rendering program, CartoType. I have got the CartoType demo application running on my HTC phone, which uses Windows Mobile 5, and it displays my current position, track and heading on the OSM map.

I also have a very good GPS sports watch (a Garmin Forerunner 305) and I've successfully used it to collect tracks of the local roads and footpaths, and used them to add Kensworth to the map. At present (July 2008) I am having to take a break from mapping because of pressure of work and more importantly the fact that I've injured my left knee and can't run for a while.

Looking forward to meeting OSM experts at Limerick. I'll be talking about using CartoType with OSM data.
