I am John McKerrell, and have a blog over at johnmckerrell.com. I happen to work for Multimap.com as a software developer but am participating with OSM mainly in a (possibly vain) attempt to map the entirety of Liverpool. I also run Tiles@home and have been know to run mapnik too.

I do my tracking using a Holux GPSlim 236 Bluetooth GPS communicating with a Sony Ericsson K750i mobile phone. I use MobiTrackPRO on my phone to operate the GPS and have it logging all of the NMEA output from the GPS. I use JOSM for editing, and have a daily cron job running Osmarender to show my progress.
