Cities, Towns and Villages

The following table shows our progress with mapping various cities and towns.

Please add a city that you're interested in or tracking/mapping here. Try to keep the list ordered by Town Name. Where necessary create a sub page to try and keep this table quite succinct.

BT1-BT15 Belfast  ?%  ?%  ?% Filling in gaps from Yahoo map + personal knowledge of living there for 30 years.
(Comment from User:Ciaran: Are you sure that copying data from Yahoo's maps is allowed? I'd imagine it could create legal problems for the project, but I'm a newbie and don't know the policies that well.

Comment from User:DanielG: I hope he means Yahoo! Aerial Imagery rather than map!)

University Area, City Centre Belfast  ?%  ?%  ?% Just learning how this works. Filling in gaps from Yahoo! Aerial Imagery + personal knowledge. Thinking about getting some kind of satnav so might be able to contribute tracks as well, eventually. I've also been editing some motorway junctions and flyovers to make them topographically correct. - Notmyopinion

Trunk Roads

Unlike their GB equivalents, NI's trunk roads are numbered. Although these numbers don't appear on signage, they are used in legislation and other government documents (e.g. notification of roadworks) to refer to the roads.

T1-T10 were first created in 1949. In 1998 T10 was extended, and the remainder created. Although some have since been superseded by motorways (e.g. much of T3), they are still officially designated as trunk.

Sites like Google Maps tend not to treat many of these as trunk at all (e.g. T12), and to colour numerous other A roads as if they were trunk.
