Conventions
The userbase in Thailand is growing therefore we need to start coordinating.
All conventions are defined globally for OSM, but some conventions have different meanings in different countries. Only the conventions which are specific for Thailand are discussed here. All other information doesn't belong in this page!
When conventions are final they will appear on this page, if they are still under discussion they will be listed on the Talk page. For now they are not final, they are all under discussion.
Two obvious things come already in mind that need conventions.
- Places: City, Town, Village...
- Highway: Trunk, Primary, Secondary, Tertiary...

Highways
| Type | Comment |
|---|---|
| motorway |
Motorways (see #Reference numbers below). All roads which have one of these 2 signs Motorway Free Section Motorway Toll Section should be tagged motorway. There are only 2 official motorways in Thailand at the moment (August 2008) as reported on Wikipedia:Thai Motorway Network |
| trunk |
??? Maybe use this for the toll-free motorways ??? |
| primary |
??? National roads bearing the following sign Highway Sign |
| secondary |
??? Important roads in large towns/cities |
| tertiary |
??? Other important roads |
| residential |
Streets mostly residential |
| pedestrian |
Streets 'designed' for vehicles but where access is restricted to pedestrians (could be permissions to load/unload vehicles) |
| footway |
Ways 'designed' for pedestrians where vehicles have no access. |
| unclassified |
Small ways that typically are located in rural areas. |
Reference numbers
The usual tag you should use is "ref", I do not know of any official reference system used in Thailand, like M1, or A1 or H1 used in other countries. Therefore, for the moment, most of us are using reference without letters
ref=1

Asian Highways AH-numbers
Some of the Highways and motorways are part of the larger and little known Asian Highway Network. These highways are referenced AHxx . Of course, these highways also have national reference numbers. In that case use this convention:
ref=3 ? int_ref=AH1 nat_ref=3 ?
