Proposals for conventions
Road Types
Regarding road types of Japan map, I propose to use the "highway=" tag as follows; comments welcome. -- Tatata 07:27, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- I moved the proposal from talk page to article page. -- Tatata 06:41, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
To make a clear distinction between secondary and tertiary, I'd like to update the comments of the table as follows.
- The proposal is omitted. See difference in history. -- Tatata 15:46, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
-- Tatata 12:01, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
The deprecated feature "minor" should be changed to unclassified. -- Tatata 14:56, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- I replaced "minor" with "unclassified" and updated secondary and tertiary. -- Tatata 15:46, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Boundary
I propose "admin_level" values for Japan as follows.
- I replaced Locality with Hamlet in admin_level=10. -- Tatata 05:29, 3 April 2008 (BST)
- I moved the proposal from talk page to article page. -- Tatata 02:33, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Places
I've proposed the usage of Map Features#Places for Japan tagging. See [[Talk:Ja:Tagging#Places]]. -- Tatata 06:10, 3 April 2008 (BST)
Data Import
I'm planning to import "National-Land Numerical Information (KSJ2) by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport(MLIT), Japan". Their license is not Public Domain nor CC-BY-SA, but it is similar to CC-BY or is very close to Copyrighted free use of Wikimedia Commons since their terms of use requires us to do a citation of the source only. Now I'm making scripts to convert railway data to OSM format. Comments welcome. -- Tatata 20:17, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- 国土数値情報(KSJ2)をインポートカタログに載せ、国土数値情報(JPGIS準拠データ)と鉄道データのページを作成しました。
- I added KSJ2 to the import catalogue and then started KSJ2 page and its railway data page. -- Tatata 11:34, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
