What are Mapping Parties?

Mapping parties are events where anyone can come and participate in the OpenStreetMap project. OpenStretMap is a free, open source map that can be contributed, edited and used by anyone anywhere. Mapping parties are social events where experienced and new mappers can meet to share and learn more about the project. The events are held in a public place, and allow time for discussion, mapping and editing. The event is open to all.

• When: Thursday June 4th, 13:30 - 17:00.
• Where: Polydôme EPFL, CH-1015 Lausanne for the morning conference and Classroom GR B0 01 starting @ 13:30 for the afternoon.

13:30 - 14:00: OpenStreetMap Mapping Party How-To

14:00 - 15:30: Mapping time (walking/biking/driving)

15:30 - 17:00: Refreshments, Upload and Edit Map Data

• If you own a GPS with logging capabilities, a laptop computer, a digital camera, please bring it along (with spare batteries and USB cables). If not, we will *try* to have GPS units to loan.
• EPFL should let us use a room with free internet access (Wifi/Ethernet) and some computers.
• Don't forget a notebook and a pen: they'll be useful too!
