What are mapping parties?
Mapping parties are events where anyone can come and participate in the OpenStreetMap project. OpenStreetMap is a free, open source map that can be contributed, edited and used by anyone anywhere. Mapping parties are social events where experienced and new mappers can meet to share and learn more about the project. The events are generally held in a public place, and allow time for discussion, mapping and editing. The event is open to all.

Where ?
This event will take place in Electronics City, Bangalore. The meeting point is at the International Institute of Information Technology IIITB opp. Infosys main gate. (Gate 2).
When ?
It will happen on sunday morning, the 9th of August 2009. We will start at 8:00am and go on till about noon.
Schedule
- 8:00 am : Meeting at IIITB
- 8:15 am : Start mapping in small groups or individually
- 12:00 pm : Back to the meeting point
Who can come and what do you need ?
- Everyone who wants to participate is welcome.
- If you are a new comer, please take at least a pen and a few printouts of the area from the OpenStreetMap website.
- If you own a GPS or laptop computer, please bring it along. If not, we will have GPS units to loan.
- If you have a camera bring it along
- You are welcome to bring your family and friends. More the merrier :-)
- No prior experience of mapping is necessary
- You can walk or cycle or drive around for mapping.
