Great Barford/weird footpath

The given reason is: Out-of-date notes?.
The line marked in light green on this map by the river is labelled "Bridleway, Roxton lock 2+1/3 miles" at the Great Barford end.
I followed it for 2.3 miles (GPS measured that) without leaving the obvious track, and arrived at Roxton Lock.
However, all the signs had turned yellow (indicating footpath not bridleway) and there were stiles and other cycle-hostile furniture across the route.
I'm not going to look it up on an OS map as that would be cheating, but it might be worth finding out if the local council are playing silly games with the signposts...
