Halifax/Import

We have permission from halifax to use their data:

Hello, I was wondering if we could get your permission to add your data to
OpenStreetMap. Your license (OGL-CA v2.0) is compatible with ours(ODbL). We
would need to know for the attribution clause in your license would be
fulfilled if we give you credit for your data via the OpenStreetMap wiki (
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Contributors#Halifax).

We are extremely happy and excited to hear that you would be willing to incorporate Halifax’s Open Data into your product OpenStreetMap. Rest assured that adding our credit to the contributors section of your wiki meets the attribution clause in our license. 

If it would be possible, could you notify us once our data has been incorporated into OpenStreetMap so that we can celebrate and share this news with our organization?

For sure! Right now we are trying to add Ottawa's data as a part of a pilot
project with Statistics Canada.

Another thing I should probably ask you is if you own all the rights to the
datasets you have available to your data portal. The reason I ask this is
that some places are just distributing data acquired from an external
company. Last time I checked this was the case with PEI, where an external
company collected address points and PEI was selling the data the company
collected(not owning the rights)

Hi James, 

The only data we release on our Open Data Catalogue is data that we own. If we ever get into publishing other agency data we would ensure that the true ownership of the dataset is properly identified.
