Hot/2014-New-Year-Wishes
The Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team with the support of the OpenStreetMap community has participated to humanitarian relief in various countries in 2013. Following various humanitarian crisis, the OSM community reacted rapidly to map in countries such as Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, Mali, Center African Republic, Iran, Sudan, Philippines.
We supported NGO's and international humanitarian organizations such as OCHA, Red Cross, Doctors without borders, UNICEF. Our community around the world has the capacity to react rapidly and trace maps, coordinating through internet. We provide detailed maps, GPS downloads and various export data for analysis to these organizations.
For the Typhoon Yolanda / Haiyan (Wikipedia) alone, more then 1,600 OpenStreetMap Contributors from 82 countries have mapped the disaster area to help humanitarian organizations. Ten days after this disaster, we started to deliver printed maps of Tacloban and the region. Daily updates can also be uploaded on GPS units to help the rescue teams navigate on the roads.
Below, the OSM contributors who participated to these various actions in 2013 wish happy new year to the people of all the countries we supported. Our community is apolitical and to show this diversity of cultures and languages of the contributors around the world, we address our new year wishes in the various countries / regions languages of the OSM contributors.
