Download complete Openstreetmap Server via Bittorrent

The attached Bittorrent (http://toolserver.org/~mazder/startup/osm.torrent) file contains a fully functional virtual Openstreetmap Server image. The Openstreetmap Server is built according to HowTos DE:HowTo minutely hstore and DE:HowTo Mapnik & Tirex aufsetzen möchte.

Running your own virtual Openstreetmap Server

To run the machine (a Open Virtualization Format image) can be used in different host programs like Virtualbox or VMWare.

After downloading, you have to import the image into the host system. Upon boot, a linux command shell is startet. User Credentials (username/password) are osm/osm or root/root for administrative purposes.

To find out your virtual machines IP address, type

   /sbin/ifconfig

Use this IP address to invoke a browser page to see your personal Openstreetmap server in action.

Maps

By default, the virtual machine contains a map of Berlin, Germany. You can import your own region by typing

./osm2pgsql -sc --database gis --username gis --prefix planet --cache 2048 --hstore /location/of_map.osm.bz2
