Why are they awesome? Notes
Dale Kunce Robert Banick, Heather Leson USA / Washington D.C. Dale has done a great job in a big year for HOT. He's helped connect HOT to funders and provided a good institutional perspective that can help HOT the NGO mature into the kind of organization humanitarian partners want to work with. In his own work he's spent a lot of time making the Missing Maps project a success, inspiring new OSM contributors and HOT devotees. Dale is a self-professed hater of email -- talk to him directly on Skype or IRC if you want to know Dale the board member better. He's very personable!
Blake Girardot Jaakko Helleranta USA / Switzerland Blake has worked tirelessly and successfully as a board member and VP to make HOT a stellar organization both towards its organizational partners (which needs to be remembered is a core reason why HOT was incorporated as an NGO) and at the same time continuing his major dedication to work with the community and as a regular community member. I think it would be simply said foolish if he would not be re-elected for the Board. If you haven't already or / and you have any questions, issues or concerns regarding either HOT in any of its aspects or Blake personally you should get in touch with him over your preferred communication channel as he is always up for a discussion.
Katja Ulbert Mikel Maron German / Berlin Katja is an enthusiastic self starter and eager collaborator who has quickly proceeded in HOT from contributing her design and cartography skills, to working on communications more broadly, to implementing mapping projects for the Syria refugee crisis. Katja will learn quickly and dedicate her creative energy to the ramping up the work of the Board.
Jorieke Vyncke Claire Halleux Belgian / Antwerp Jorieke is a humble and passionnate OSM volunteer whose enthusiasm is contagious. Since 2012 she's been spending lots of her time empowering/joining local OSM communities through several projects accross Africa, Europe and Asia. She's been a precious value on the board during this last year, contributing to bridge the "gap" between the board and the membership and wider community. I am glad to be nominating her this year. She's now back home with a more stable Internet connection, get in touch with her if you have any questions.
Heather Leson Joseph Reeves Canadian / Doha Heather is a long standing Board Member and our current Board President. Heather has worked tirelessly for HOT, putting in many long hours that have been communicated to the membership, and is responsible directly or indirectly, for many of the organisation's achievements and successes. We are lucky to have had Heather serving HOT for the last three years and any future Board would benefit enormously from her experience, amazing work ethic and abilities. Heather is vital for both the internal HOT community and for our position within the wider world of funders, project partners and aid organisations.
Jean-Guilhem Cailton Bagnoumana Bazo Fofana, Frédéric Moine French / Toulouse Jean-Guilhem has been involved in OSM / HOT response to humanitarian crises since Haiti 2010 earthquake (in particular in obtaining or setting up imagery, in connection with coordination). Along with the professional aspect of HOT and for reciprocal enrichment, he would like to push for a better recognition of the role of the Community in practice, and for its empowerment through more democracy, transparency and openness. Available on Mumble, IRC or Skype, and happy to talk

Mikel Maron Dale Kunce USA / Washington D.C. As one of the founders of HOT Mikel has a deep love for HOT, a great understanding of how NGOs operate, and works on many working groups for both HOT and OSMF. Mikel has been instrumental in forming HOT and keeping our bylaws and procedures up to date. Mikel will make a great Chairperson for the Voting Members. Candidate statement posted to diary
