Tracks

Track Classification

IMPORTANT: all ways with unpaved surface which can be used by normal cars should be tagged as track (type 1 or 2), NOT as highway or road. Ways which can only be used by 4WD-cars should be tagged as track type 3, 4 or 5. All other ways that cannot be used by cars should be tagged as path.

Tracktype

Used to describe the surface quality of the track, path or road.

tracktype	grade1		Paved track or heavily compacted hardcore.
tracktype	grade2		Unpaved track; surface of gravel or densely packed dirt/sand.
tracktype	grade3		Unpaved track; an even mixture of hard and soft materials.
tracktype	grade4		Unpaved track; prominently dirt/sand/grass, but with some hard materials, or compressed materials mixed in.
tracktype	grade5		Unpaved track; lack of hardcore, and uncompacted, subtle on the landscape, made from only grass, sand and/or soil.
