Problem

When doing my first street mapping, i found that there were dozens of features to map. It was hard to know which ones were important and which ones were a waste of time to map.

I'm concerned that when i survey some street and update the map, that other users will not know what i covered. Was i checking placement of streets, street lights, post boxes, benches. Where is recorded that i was interested in X, but not Y.

A road may have been last updated on some y-m-d, but what was covered? Did it include fire hydrants sewer drains?

Solution

I'd like to develop a worksheet, like geospatial metadata, which describes what feature were covered and which ones were ignored during a survey.

The metadata should be recorded and published. And the changes made based on that survey should reference it.
