Project Summary: A map of the British Railway network at it's maximum extent.

Data Sources: Ordnance Survey New Popular Edition, would apart from a few line closed pre-war, or very early in the 20th century, would contain most if not the entire network.

Portions of this as "operational railway" and heratige lines would be present in the main OSM database layers.

In addition to the geospatial layout of the routes, (it's not proposed to attempt to map indvidual track layout changes.), it was intended to record stations marked on NPE, and others if sufficient data (such as Bradshaw?) can be found to substantiate a stations existence.

A sample of a route, The Helston Branch Line is already mapped in OHM sans stations, but it was my view that owing to sheer amount of potential data, it may be better for this project to be on it's own parallel db.

Extensions to the mapping could be private lines, industrial tramroads, and so forth. ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 21:13, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
