Proposal

A shop selling large electrical items (aka white goods) such as washing machines, fridges, cookers, ovens, fans etc. May also include smaller items such as rice cookers, blenders, toasters and/or entertainment electronics such as televisions and stereo systems. If the shop focuses on consumer electronics (tv, stereo, home cinema, audio) you should have a look at shop=electronics

Usage stats

shop=appliance:

shop=electronics:

shop=electronics has been used a lot more. That's might be because we've mapped many more shops selling TVs and radios, but no. It's mainly because shop=electronics has been documented for a lot longer, and documented as a tag encompassing shops selling appliances. This newer tag is still only proposed as a more fine-grained distinction.
