The tag amenity=courthouse is used to map a [W] Courthouse (sometimes spelled Court House): a building which is home to a local court of law, where justice is dispensed. A court of law is a government institution with the authority to adjudicate legal disputes between parties and carry out the administration of justice in civil, criminal, and administrative matters in accordance with the rule of law.

Sometimes it is used by the regional county government as well, although this is not the case in some larger cities. The term is common in North America. In some other English speaking countries buildings which house courts are simply called "courts" or "court building".

How to map

Set a node or draw as an area around the outline of the court of law. Tag it with amenity=courthouse and name=*.
