Proposal

Frozen food stores specialise in selling frozen food, including fruits, vegetables, meat , processed dishes and ice cream.

This tag has been described already and used over 300 times in the database.

Rationale

As of April 2016, frozen food stores are often described as supermarkets or convenience store. These tags are not fully relevant :

  • Supermarkets offer a wide range of products, including food of course, and also cleaning products, drinks, cosmetics, stationery. ON thee other hand, frozen food only sell a few categories of food (excluding fresh fruits and vegetables, bakery, biscuits, pasta,...).
  • Convenience stores are characterised by their size (smaller than a supermarket). Frozen food stores tend to be larger than convenience stores, and sometimes as large as small supermarkets. Once again, those shops are distinguished by the products they carry.

Examples

Notable examples include the French brand Picard (~1000 stores) and British chain Farmfoods (~300 stores).

Tagging

Frozen food stores are a subtype of shops, the tag should be shop=frozen_food.
