A rotary converter plant is a facility, at which electrical power of one type is converted by using rotary machines in an other form of electric power. Most rotary converter plants exist in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Norway and Sweden and are used for the conversion of three-phase AC with 50 Hz into single-phase AC of 16.67 Hz for railway use purpose.
