Rationale
- For OSM activities by the scientific community, see Research.
This would include areas that are college or university campuses. These are sometimes part of the centre of a city or town with a mixture of public property and property owned by the institution, or they are specific premises with a physical border.
Tags
This proposal introduces a single *new* key and value pair:
* landuse=academic
Existing tags could probably be used to add information, for example:
* name=John Moores University
Rendering
Possibly light grey with the institution name in the middle.
Discussion
- The tags amenity=university and amenity=college can and are already used for campus areas. See their description on the Map Features page. So I think this proposal is redundant. --Cartinus 11:58, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- indeed it is, this is unnecessarily complicating things. please provide a rationale why the existing tags are not suitable, or it will be removed form the proposals page Myfanwy 22:15, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
