  • key=operator value=<name of the company operating the power plant> (optional)
  • key=product value= electricity | kinetic energy
  • classification=
  • technology=
  • initial_operation=<year>
  • shut-down=<year>
  • modules=<number>
  • source=<of data>

Discussion

I am investigating a cooperation between http://www.wikienergy.de - for the time being in German. scoid 00:57, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

You are aware of these: Tag:power=generator, Tag:waterway=dam , aren't you? -- Fröstel 12:34, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

No I wern't, but I see clearly the difference between my suggestions and those above. The proposals you alluding to, gives the physical shape of water, the architecture of weirs or dams. My will focus the kind of generators and machinery, some of them don't even use dams. Is this more clear now? scoid 17:31, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
You obviously didn't check the first link. The core of your proposal is already covered by power=generator, power_source=water. What you want is an extension of this with additional tags. Some of these already exist as well, date_on and date_off can be found on map features. Operator is also a common tag. So please make clear which tags you are proposing and describe those in detail. Please keep them as generic as possible, that they can be applied to any kind of power-generator. -- Fröstel 19:44, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
When you re-use these keys, I could imagine, that power_plants might be on or off for certain periods (revisions, waterless periods, etc.), this does'nt sound to apply to the end of construction, say, like a road, any building and also power_plant, it's not quite the same. I agree with you trying to keep it as much generic has possible. Thank you for your hints, which force me to dig deeper in the wiki.

Hydro power is currently (04/2013) part of the Power generation refinement proposal. It's fully documented by using power=generator and generator:source=hydro.
