Proposal

A tag to set restriction on highways, so that only vehicles conforming specified European emission standards should be allowed. Can be used for routing.

Rationale

There are several roads in EU and other places which have ecological restrictions on allowed vehicles. This tag should allow such specification and can be used for routing as additional attribute to vehicle, to avoid use of roads if not conforming.

Existing tagging

This is already covered by relation of the type LEZ, see Low Emission Zone. However, Low Emission Zone relation is applied to areas(?), which makes it hard to use for routing, unless it's applied to ways within area.

Discussion

Please discuss on the talk page.

Pros for tagging highways with mineuroclass

  • Clear definition of allowed European emission standard for roads.
  • Useful for international route planning of lorries and other commercial vehicles.
  • Does not redefine the already well used tag
