Purpose
This used to be the primary OpenStreetMap database server, before that was moved to Servers/ramoth in April 2012 [1]. Smaug was originally brought into commission in April 2009 for the API v0.6 upgrade (replacing katie). The server was bought with funds from the February 2009 Hardware upgrade appeal.
