- If you want your symbols to show up on Mapnik tiles, you will have to abide by the rules specified here. For example, you will have to set the 'tourism' key to have the value 'museum' to get the museum symbol to appear. A list of Mapnik symbols can be found here.
- If you want your symbols to show up on Osmarender tiles, you will have to abide by the rules specified in the file which can be downloaded by right clicking on this link. You will have to set the 'historic' key to have the value 'museum' to get the museum symbol to appear. Osmarender symbols can be found here. They are in SVG format and can be viewed by saving them to disk and then opening them with Firefox, Inkscape, or with Internet Explorer with the Adobe SVG extension.
