A waste transfer station is a location that accepts, consolidates and transfers waste in bulk, usually from government or commercial collections.

The consolidated waste is transferred on a regular basis for further processing, for example to a landuse=landfill site. The station might also accept waste suitable for recycling, such as metals.

As such stations are meant for bulk waste, they will typically have weighbridges for weighing the lorries on entry and exit that can be mapped with amenity=weighbridge.

How to map

Set a node or draw as an area along the waste transfer station. Add

Useful combinations

To indicate what materials are processed, see recycling:*=*.
