A nature reserve is a protected area of importance for wildlife, flora, fauna or features of geological or other special interest, which is reserved and managed for conservation and to provide special opportunities for study or research. • boundary=national_park is a form of protected area. Like a nature reserve it is about protecting wildlife etc, and is normally designated by a government. The distinction is unclear and is under discussion, but some suggestions are: nature reserves are smaller areas than national parks. National parks are rather like administrative boundaries around large areas whereas nature reserves are more evident on-the-ground. National parks are often named "X national park", and are in some sense officially proclaimed a national park.
