Spoil heaps, otherwise known as  Spoil tip are piles of waste rock removed during mining.

This tag may also be used for piles of dredge tailings, which is the sediment that is dumped next to a river/lake when the river is dredged (made deeper using excavators and other machinery). Not to be confused with man made=tailings pond

How to map

Map the outline of the spoil heap as a closed polygon area and tag it with man_made=spoil_heap.

- If there is a common name add name=*
