Description

The top (summit) of a hill or mountain. Mapped as a node Node, only.

natural=peak is immaterial and maps the highest point of a natural or renaturalised physical feature.
  • name=* - name of the peak
  • ele=* - for providing an elevation / altitude in metres above sea level ... if you know it.
  • wikipedia=* - for providing a wikipedia.org link - many major peaks have an entry.
  • summit:cross=yes - for summit crosses

Appearance

Currently Mapnik will render a symbol (Peak mapnik.png) at zoom level 11, a symbol plus its name at zoom level 13 and a symbol plus name plus elevation on level 14 and higher zoom levels.
