A Butterfly valve is a wide used pipeline valve design which involves a rotating disc to either regulate or complete stop the flow of a fluid in a pipeline.

Several sizes exists and they are most used in industrial processes.

This is a common valve used to regulate pressure in water mains on distribution networks. Switchable wheel allow technicians to open and close the valve so does the electric actuator on top of it.
