poi maps

if you need a special map with important poi (like [1] with help on the right in german, englisch, france and spain - someone know them from Haiti) write a mail. i need the selection-tag, the area to show and the icons to use. i will try to make the maps fast with daily update. --Lübeck 19:51, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Bing post-disaster imagery

Bing has made available post-disaster imagery [2] around Ishinomaki and in coastal areas from Yamamoto to Okuma (including Minamisoma). Is this identical with the DigitalGlobe imagery? --Ant 13:29, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Will be useful to have some tag to diferenciate the vesrsion of the source ,something like source=Bing Mar 2011 or source:date=<day> --Xevi 14:32, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

  • I noticed that people are a) using this imagery and b) using a source date tag as suggested by Xevi. Probably worth noting on page itself. -- SK53 14:48, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Split out the page

Maybe it's time to split out the page, because the mapping details and tables with imagery details feel a bit heavy now. I actually think it's quite damaging to split out onto too many pages because it quickly becomes a sprawling mass of wiki mess which nobody maintains, but the content has expanded to the point where a simple two-way split might make sense: Main page (with resource links) and Mapping coordination (with data sources).

I plan to make this split and do the follow-up tidying work this evening using this template: Template:Sendai earthquake navigation

objections?
