highway=path

It seems the router generally assumes that highway=path is unsuitable for bicycles riding (suggests "on foot"). I think this must be adjustable somehow - in many places most highway=path are fine for most bicycles. mtb:scale=* and sac_scale=* should also help a bit - and need to be considered differently for different kinds of bicycles. highway=path doesn't say whether bicycles are allowed to use the path or not - many paths for pedestrians only are tagged as highway=path. If you add bicycle=yes (and ideally a surface tag too) it'll use it. --Richard (talk) 19:56, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
this seems wrong, see OSM_tags_for_routing/Access-Restrictions. Only Austria seems to default to no which may well be an error.. will try to clarify that. RicoZ (talk) 09:51, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
after a slow discussion on talk-at it seems that bicycle=no is indeed the intended default for paths in Austria. RicoZ (talk) 11:53, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
Approved features/Path is pretty clear on that subject and many bicycle related pages - english and german suggest explicitly the same so I am removing the Austrian exception. RicoZ (talk) 12:52, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Use of class:bicycle?

Is cycle.travel using Key:class:bicycle ? RicoZ (talk) 12:38, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
