Talk:JOSM/Gentoo

Im writing a page for OSM relating to gentoo installation of other software. There really should be a gentoo category, which itself is a sub-category of Linux. This top level page should be for brief information about the distro so that OSMers developing applications can get a quick feel for the distro, then navigate to sub pages for how-to and other info etc. The same applies to all distros. It seems to be early days (a lot of distros listed in the Linux template box, dont have pages yet) so now is the time to sort this out, before things get complicated. Agree the current content should go to JOSM/Gentoo (it would be great if that page is then in the Gentoo sub-category of the Linux category) Geekasylum 17:39, 18 September 2012 (BST)

I've gone ahead and created a Gentoo category page, using the existing work under Ubuntu as a precedent. It also seems that the Linux template lands on this page when clicking the 'Gentoo' distribution link. Given that the templates are set up in this way (expecting that this is the base page for the distro) and that there has been no comment (other than my own) regarding the move for exactly 2 years now, I'm going to go ahead and move the page, and set up a stub for the Gentoo Distro here. If this is not the way OSM does things, you can rap my knuckles later, but as they say... you cant break a wiki. Geekasylum 07:38, 20 September 2012 (BST)
