Double doors

What about a double door? It should still be a single node

In the original proposal, you can define the amount of wings using door:wings=<1 or 2> (by default set to one). --PanierAvide (talk) 06:18, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

Back doors

Can we use door=back to represent a back door? It is common for most houses in Britain to have a front (door=home) and a back door. Chaz6 (talk) 11:55, 8 August 2019 (UTC)

I'd rather not, as the door key is intended for the physical mechanism of the door. Mixing this up with the function or location of the entrance isn't ideal: We could no longer distinguish, say, a folding back door from a hinged back door. Maybe entrance=main vs. entrance=yes could be used, though? --Tordanik 19:26, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

Handles

Despite this old proposal has been abandoned without vote, handle=* has been approved since and is suitable for doors and entrances.
Should we add handle=lever, handle=wheel... as possible combinations? Fanfouer (talk) 21:39, 13 August 2021 (UTC)

handle=* has been approved for pipeline actuators, not doors, and the set of values does not make much sense for doors. It also doesn't have a higher number of uses on doors than the proposed door:handle=* (fewer than 40), so I don't think this use can be called established. IMO, it would at least need to solve the problem of different types of handles on each side of the door to be a suitable tagging scheme. --Tordanik 08:53, 14 August 2021 (UTC)

Tagging

Would be nice to have the same tagging structure like for Key:window, e.g. with door:height (instead of height), door:shape, door:material or door:frame:* . --Sinuhe20 (talk) 14:45, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
