Magellan RoadMate series

This article doesn't even mention the Magellan RoadMate series of GPS devices, which are primarily aimed at automotive use, not hiking or bicycling. They have a relatively short operating time on the non-removable internal battery and are primarily designed to run on a 12 V adapter, plugged into the vehicle's electrical system. Are the automotive devices software-compatible with the handheld devices? This could be of interest to OSM GPS hacking, as I've seen factory refurbished and lightly used Magellan RoadMate units offered for sale as of this date for US$60 to US$70, about one-third of the list price. — User8192T @ 14:22, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
