Current.gpx

What is the difference between the gps.bin files recorded by the "secret" mode and the standard Current.gpx file recorded in Garmin/GPX? I just got a Nuvi 255T and noticed the presence of the gpx file which records traces of all recent trips. I'm not sure if it records raw data or 'snap-to-road' data as I have only used it a couple of times so far. I made a test using an OSM map for the outgoing trip and the builtin map for the return trip and the traces were definitely not overlapping. polderrunner 20:47, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

I have got some more experience with the 255. The Current.gpx file is ok for tracing on one condition: The Route preference must be set to 'Off Road' mode (in Settings -> Navigation -> Route Preference -> Off Road -> OK). Otherwise it will 'snap' to the nearest road. Current.gpx comprises tracks of all recent trips thus you need a way of extracting the desired track(s). polderrunner 19:56, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Nuvi 255 converting logs to GPX

When I upload my converted files (converted by wNutrak to GPX) to OSM , the upload fails. I copy the files from the Nuvi255 to a folder (Garmin Downloads) in my laptop and from there use Nutrak to convert to a "Maps" folder for upload. Numerous attempts to upload different tracks have failed. I don't have the technical ability to solve this problem and would appreciate any help. TKS Skralm 22.28, 22 March 2010

What version of firmware?

My Nuvi 255WT with version 6.60 does not seem to have this logging mode. Nfgusedautoparts 23:59, 21 April 2011 (BST)
