Start and end dates

Currently, this page describes that for the attribute "Periodic date start" (PERSTA) the key "start_date" should be used, and that for the attribute "Periodic date end" (PEREND) the key "end_date" should be used. This appears to be incoherent with the way start_date=* and end_date=* are used for other kinds of objects in Openstreetmap. Instead end_date=* and start_date=* look like the appropriate keys for encoding "Date end" (DATEND) and "Date start" (DATSTA). The information contained in the attributes "Periodic date start" (PERSTA) and "Periodic date end" (PEREND) could either be combined into service_times=*, which would be in line with the usage in the rest of OSM, or attached to new keys periodic_date_start=* and periodic_date_end=*. (I'm intentionally proposing service_times=* because a lighthouse might have opening_hours=* for visitors and completely different service times when its light is on.) What do you think? --Biff (talk) 22:28, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Help for non-experts

This page is clearly full of useful information. However, it's hard to see how to actually use these tags if the reader is not an expert in tagging (or perhaps an expert in openseamap tagging).

Some worked examples would be very useful. Can anyone suggest these?

Ftr, I'm a mostly-inland boat-user, wanting (for completeness) to give the openseamap tags for land-lubber tags like mooring=yes. eteb3 (talk) 20:00, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

there are numerous JOSM presets making seamark tagging easier. The European inland navigator should have a look at Seamarks/CEVNI Notice Marks and Seamarks/CEVNI Lateral Marks. See also Seamarks/Buoyage Systems and forum.openseamap.org . User:Kannix 2020-08-9)
Thanks, I've found the tagging scheme and linked from this page. Revert if unhelpful. eteb3 (talk) 13:29, 29 August 2020 (UTC)

Category to group seamark tags

I want to ask, which wiki category do you prefer to use to group the seamark tags? E.g. for group in Key/ValueDescription and associated data item.

A consistent specification might be preferable.

At present there are 3 of them mixed in use:

Category:Marine navigation sounds reasonable to me too. Unfortunately, many tags were provided with the group Maritime. Then they would all have to be updated. --Chris2map (talk) 18:38, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

... let's start together. Do you have a todo list?

There has to be reviewed every seamark: key or tag, listed on either Category:Maritime or Category:Marine, and changed the specified group= (if so) and also with the related data item. --Chris2map (talk) 20:05, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
