One Location, please !

Please choose one location proposals. Then we can go back at the end of the week and see the difference, see how much the relevant extract has grown and identify the users involved. (Like we did with Haiti). And then we can learn tagging from each other through osmosis (bad pun). -- Nic 20:28, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Assistance required

Proposals that are ready to be copy-pasted in to the potw schedule will be given preference because I'm lazy. Writing a bad potw takes no time at all. Let's write a bunch of really good ones and see if we can inspire folks to great mapping. -- Rw 01:08, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

I will add POTW to mainpage week by week and do the german translation.--!i! 11:43, 4 August 2010 (BST)

potw participation and effect

Single location potw proposals lend themselves to before/after to see the participation and effect of potw. What is the best way to measure the effectiveness of a diffuse or global potw? How do we measure the success or popularity of a potw? Does anybody read this stuff? -- Rw 01:08, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes of course POTW is very nice to get a "oh my god, I can map this thing?" or "oh it's realy easy to map this". It extends the community feeling. It would be of course improved if we can monitor the amount of changes as some kind of 'bonus'. What about the QA services on QA or List of OSM based services to get numbers/developments of features? --!i! 09:59, 16 September 2010 (BST)

one location vs. global potw

Are single location potw proposals interesting to mappers from all over? Do we lose interest by proposing special locations for our attention? Or do they add motivation to map in a place you might not otherwise visit? -- Rw

Feedback and highlights

Want your participation in potw memorialized? Snap a before and after shot of the area you edit for a potw, and post a comment on the talk potw announcement thread, or opengeodata.org so others can see what the cool kids are mapping.

How could we tag our contribution to note it was for the project of the week? On the objects or in the changeset (I think the latter is better)? Should we give the full url of the given week http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Project_of_the_week/2010/Apr_18 ? Or something like note=potw? Then it would be possible to track the changesets related to it. Damouns 19:46, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
This is not an information that is related to the mapped object, so it should not go into the tags. It can be part of the changeset description, though. Lulu-Ann

Who manages POTW

Hi Richard, well normaly you do the job to pick one of the proposals? So I think we should write a line on the page that you will contact the people if you like an idea to point out this process? --!i! 10:01, 16 September 2010 (BST)
