Proposed features/Publisher

I'm not sure that a publishing company's office is an amenity... Perhaps would be better with a new tag e.g.

company=publisher
publishing=magazine
name=National Geographic

Then the values of company could be used to describe other companies too... e.g.

company=software
name=Microsoft

or

company=isp
name=Plusnet

Actually, perhaps 'business' would be a better tag than company...dkt 08:23, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

It's definitely not an amenity. I work for a magazine publishing company and we're not really open to the public at all. ---Richard 09:24, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Is this tag useful?

I don't see the point in inventing a special tag value to indicate a location of a "publisher". The examples given usually do not offer service to the public, but are just the normal office buildings, or maybe factory buildings where books etc. are printed. So the intention of this tag would be best represented using existing means:

building=yes
name=Name of Publisher
etc...

I also think that it is not necessary to create such a tag (especially not an amenity tag). You can use office=publisher or something similar. --Head 10:55, 29 October 2010 (BST)

Joining the two options

I believe we should use the two options, they fit nicely:

buiding=yes
name=Googleplex
company=internet (?)

Does not belong to "amenity" class

Publishing houses are not amenities in general case, because they are not a kind of community facility, accepting masses of general public clients, visitors.

office=company
company=publisher

should work great. --BushmanK (talk) 23:00, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
