Nearly useless tagging

The shading of object depends on the place and the time and can be calculated, if the object height/width e.g. of buildings are known.

For this intention the objects should be better tagged with e.g height=*/building:levels=* for buildings and/or natural=tree/natural=tree_row + height=* for trees. For a pergola a tag such as amenity=pergola should be invented and then tagged with height=*. --Fabi2 23:32, 13 July 2011 (BST)

The introductory section of the proposal acknowledges the possibility of calculating shade. Nothing in the proposal would preclude tagging height etc. and calculating shade from it. However, height (and canopy width) of trees requires additional work to estimate and tag than simply observing "this place or sidewalk is shaded". --EdH 12:32, 14 July 2011 (BST)

Ok, but then it should be tagged, when the place is shaded. Even if this defaults to moon in the summer, a tree, which is shading a bus stop in the moon, will not shade the bus stop in the evening anymore. --Fabi2 21:16, 14 July 2011 (BST)
