Talk:Proposed features/Tribal land

It has generally been our experience that US tribal lands generate much contention in their definition, due to disparities in recognition status, e.g. US Federally recognized tribes vs. State recognized vs. the Tribal entities themselves. In some instances, we have gotten polygonal boundaries, in some instances point data known to reside within tribal bounds, and so on. We have also generally found that Bureau of Indian Affairs has for us generally NOT been a reliable source of information - however the tribes themselves are in some instances an excellent source of information, including GIS data, however their capabilities and holdings vary in quality and completeness.
