Please use building:height instead of height --!i! 22:11, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

should that mean building=silo should be used? --Ipofanes 13:54, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

there should be more types of silo:

in agricultural is often used a flat silo used called "heap silage" or "clamp silage"

see Foto in german it is called "Fahrsilo" (Wikipedia Silo)

I think there could be a tag like "silo:type=" for this "silage_heap" and for other usings things like tower...

I agree that there should be multiple types of silos. There is a large difference among the various types of silos. The silo Wiki page [1] does a good job of describing how they vary.

The different types include: grain elevators, steel grain silos (more commonly called "grain bins"), stave silos, concrete storage silos, tower silos, low oxygen storage silos, bunker silos, and bag silos, among others.

These all vary a lot in how they look, which will be important for how they are rendered on the map, or how they are used as navigation beacons. For example, bag silos are long plastic bags that commonly hold grain, or hay. They're about 2 meters tall. On the other hand, tower silos/grain elevators/low oxygen storage silos, etc are very tall and can be seen from a long ways away. Grain bins are the most common silo found on landuse=farmyard.

I think the building material is inherent in the type of silo, so the type of silo should take precedence in tagging. --ColbyDigsSoil (talk) 14:13, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
