What to map?

As this feature does not use tracks, and the train moves around, it is unclear to me what you want to map? The stop position, the depot? --Polarbear w (talk) 12:15, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Thetornado76 had replied that it should refer to the stop position, and that the route could be mapped as well.

For trains driving on a regular road, the route should not be mapped as a line. If needed, a route relation (similar to public transport) could be used. There is still the contradiction with the attraction proposal which includes trains on rails.

The reason why the German and the English page did not find each other was that this English page is named "Tag:attraction=train" while the German was "DE:Attraction=train", i.e. without Tag and with capital A. I have moved it to "DE:Tag:attraction=train". --Polarbear w (talk) 21:55, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Trackless or trains with tracks?

This wiki page (created in 2016) suggests this is for "trackless trains", but the [current "attraction" page](https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:attraction) contradicts this.

Also, I checked the use of the tag as of April 2019, and there are 57 closed ways and 64 unclosed ways mapped, compared to 101 mapped as nodes. The closed ways seem to be all loops following the tracks too. Many of these are also tagged with railway=miniature or railway=narrow_gauge.

This suggests that the idea that this is a "trackless train" is incorrect, or perhaps a proposal that has not been adopted.--Jeisenbe (talk) 23:57, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
